Connect Android Wear emulator with Genymotion

  1. Download Genymotion (free version).
  2. Get the Android  SDK, you need the built-in Android Debug Bridge (adb) and AVD Manager.
  3. Download the “Android Wear Preview” app.
  4. Setup a Nexus 5 virtual device (Android 4.4.2) in Genymotion.
  5. Setup the Android Wear emulator.
  6. Start both emulators (Nexus 5 and Android Wear).
  7. Open a command prompt and execute this command:
    \path\to\adt-bundle\sdk\platform-tools\adb.exe devices
  8. You see the two devices/emulators.
  9. Execute this command to install the “Android Wear Preview” app on the Nexus 5 emulator:
    \path\to\adt-bundle\sdk\platform-tools\adb.exe -s [device name Nexus 5] install WearablePreview.apk
  10. Execute this command to forward port 5601 from the Nexus 5 emulator, to receive the notifications on the Wear emulator:
    \path\to\adt-bundle\sdk\platform-tools\adb.exe -s [device name Nexus 5] forward tcp:5601 tcp:5601
  11. Open the “Android Wear Preview” app on the Nexus 5 and Connect.

I’ve made also a video tutorial about how to connect a Wear emulator to a  Android smartphone (Android 4.3+):
